Optimal Environment for Your Emerald Cedar

The Emerald Cedar tree is a very low maintenance addition to your landscape, but there are still ways to ensure that this practical tree is planted in it’s optimal environment for growth and survival.

Sunlight

Emerald Cedars grow best when planted in full to partial sun, and it is recommended that these trees receive at least six hours of full sun per day.

Soil

Emerald Cedars grow best in average to moist soil conditions. Their soil should not be allowed to completely dry out, but should be well drained. Emerald Cedars are not particular to soil type or pH, but neutral or alkaline moist soils provide the most optimal environment for this tree.

Water

During the first month after planting your Emerald Cedar, water deeply and often to aid the root system in establishing itself in a new environment. Once your Emerald Cedar has acclimated to the soil, the tree will receive most of its necessary water from the regular rainfall. If the environment goes without rainfall for an extended period of time, or has drier conditions, you can provide supplemental watering to your cedar. Emerald Cedars do not require watering during the winter months.
